7 Simple Hacks to Develop a Morning Routine that will Set the Mood for the Whole Day!

Mornings can be a great start of the day or they could be a dreadful part of it.

Let’s be honest, we all have woken up once in awhile feeling like we could not be bothered to get on with our day’s chores and responsibilities.

It is quite normal for this to happen; there is no reason for us to be ashamed to admit that sometimes our morning is just not a good morning. We live in a busy world and it is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by everything that is waiting ahead of us during the course of the day.

Some people are natural morning people, they seem to have no problem at all to get up at once and start enjoying the benefits of their energy. Others need a little bit of help to kick-start the day.

If you belong to the second group of people, do not worry. You are not alone. There are many more people out there struggling to set their mind in the right frame to start the day. I used to be part of this group as well but I found my ways to get through a difficult start and set my mind on a more positive gear.

By following these very simple hacks, I believe you too will be able to gain positive energy from your mornings.

1. Wake up early

Set your alarm so that you have at least one hour to yourself before you need to leave the house for work or take the kids to school for example.

I realized that by not staying in bed until the last minute, I would get up with a much fresher mind. Try not to snooze your alarm as the option of snoozing will make you feel tired when you finally part from your bed.

2. Drink a big glass of warm water with lemon

Make it a habit of preparing yourself this incredibly healthy drink every morning to kick start your day. Lemon has strong antibacterial, antiviral and immune-boosting powers and contains many good substances including vitamin C.

Get into a routine of drinking it every morning before you even consider breakfast and it will help detox your body. Use fresh lemons for best benefits. If you like you can boost it with some fresh ginger too.

3. Exercise for at least 15 minutes

Depending on how much time you have available, allow yourself to exercise for at least 15 minutes. You don’t have to join a gym to keep fit when you can have the best home gym!

Pick the workout of your choice whether it’s a session of squats, an aerobic session or even yoga and meditation. Exercise is good to boost your energy and it helps to focus on positive thoughts. Here are some workout motivation tips from the experts

4. Take a shower

Even if you showered the night before, have another shower in the morning. It will help the blood circulation in your body and it will decrease stress. Use aromatherapy soaps with a lemongrass or lavender essence. It will relax your mind and clear your thoughts.

It is said that people who shower in the morning are happier.

5. Make yourself a healthy breakfast

We all know that a healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so don’t skip it. Skipping breakfast will only put you in a grumpy mood for the whole day.

Have something fresh and light but nutritious such as a mixed fruit smoothie or a bowl of fresh fruit with granola, topped up with yogurt and honey.

Try to avoid heavy foods in the morning such as bacon and eggs. They will make you feel heavier and low on energy.

6. Listen to your favorite music

Listening to your favorite music in the morning is one of the best kick-starts. Music is known to be a great therapy for the mind, so why not play your favorite tunes while you are exercising or making breakfast. Sing along too or dance, it will lighten up your mood.

Stay away from your phone, emails, social media and all kind of technology first thing in the morning. The world can wait, concentrate on yourself first.

Avoid watching the news as well. The news is always depressing and it will make you feel low instead of cheering you up.

7. Revise your goals for the days

Make a mental list – or write it down if you prefer – of what you need to do or want to achieve during the day. This will help you to better organize your thoughts and more important, your tasks.

Visualize your day. Visualization techniques are proven to be very successful in helping you achieving your goals.

By following these easy hacks you should be able to set yourself in the right mood to prepare for a great day!
